Overton notches fifth-place finish in North-South 100 at Florence
Brandon Overton entered his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Infinity Chassis Late Model into battle with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the weekend for the 42nd annual Sunoco Race Fuels North-South 100 at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.).
Joining a stacked field of 60 LOLMDS entries for twin preliminaries on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday’s 100-lap finale, Overton laid down the fourth-fastest time in his qualifying group before placing first in his heat. Chasing a $6,000 payday in his prelim, Overton rolled to a seventh-place finish in the opener.
In Friday’s preliminary program, Brandon followed up a runner-up heat outing with a consistent eighth-place finish in the 25-lap preliminary.
Overton’s weekend concluded with a solid fifth-place run in Saturday night’s $75,000-to-win North-South 100 finale. He chased Bobby Pierce, Devin Moran, Drake Troutman, and Max Blair to the checkers in the 100-lap affair.
