Ogilvie, MN (August 10) – Approximately 70 bikes lined the front stretch on Saturday night at Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway as kids felt the excitement of a chance to win a new bike. The Northern Vintage Stockcar Racers were on hand for a night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action with their Modified and Full Bodied cars as well as our WISSOTA Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Mod Fours, Street Stocks and Hornets. Mike Hudyma and Brian Vang took their respective Vintage Car features while Jim Gullikson, Ryan Kostreba, Tommy Bawden, Jenna Hagemann and Cole Boston also took home hardware.

Rachel Boston and Jim Gullikson led the WISSOTA Street Stocks to green for the first feature event of the night, and Gullikson grabbed the early lead. Tommy Pogones moved into the second point, Boston held third with Jeff Ekdahl and Kyle Howland on her rear. An early caution reset the field, but Gullikson remained in command as the race resumed. Ekdahl moved into third and chased after Pogones as laps went by, and with the white raised, the yellow waved. The late restart however didn’t phase Jim Gullikson as Gullikson took the win followed by Jeff Ekdahl, Tommy Pogones, Rachel Boston and Kyle Howland as the top drivers.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks took the green with Russell Kostreba and Austin Niemeyer on row one, and as soon as the green flew, the yellow followed. Once the race resumed, Niemeyer was in command with Ryan Kostreba in second and Dustin Nelson in third. Ryan Kostreba sped to Niemeyer’s door, and after a couple laps, Kostreba nosed out the point. Niemeyer kept the #17 of Kostreba within an arm’s reach for a bit, however Kostreba began to stretch his lead to nearly a straight-away as the checkers waved. Austin Niemeyer, Dustin Nelson, Dexton Koch and Dylan Kromschroeder took points two through five as Ryan Kostreba visited victory lane.

Anthony Jenson and Jenna Hagemann led the WISSOTA Hornets to green and Hagemann grabbed the early lead. Jenson kept close in second as other drivers battled for positions. Payson Patrin moved to third and the top three separated from the other drivers with Hagemann still in command. Jenson slid to Hagemann’s door for the lead as Payson sat back and watched the battle. Jenna Hagemann however didn’t budge from her line as she took the win with Anthony Jenson, Nikota Larson, Bobie Arnes and Randy Jacoboski as top finishers, after drivers attended post-race tech.

Tommy Bawden and Robert Holtquist took their positions on row one as the WISSOTA Mod Fours took the green. The top two battled for the point until Bawden secured the point and Holtquist held onto second. Laps passed without incident, however with five laps to go, a caution was triggered. The field was reset and Bawden felt the heat of Bob and Dustin Holtquist to his rear, however Tommy Bawden was unphased as he took the checkers with Dustin Holtquist, Tyler Larson, Black Hawker and Maeghan Milz as the top five.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds closed out the night’s program with a four-wide salute to the fans and when the green dropped, Cole Anderson, Ben Lewis and Ryan Putnam went three-wide. Putnam claimed the lead, but Lewis didn’t back down as he raced to Putnam’s door. Following a caution, Putnam brought the racers back to green with Lewis, Wyatt Boyum and David Simpson in tow. Lewis sped to Putnam’s side and soon took the lead point as Cole Boston moved into top points. A couple cautions slowed the drivers, and during the restarts, Boston made his way into first. Putnam retained second while David Swearingen challenged Lewis for third. A final caution was triggered for debris and drivers retook their starting positions with a handful of laps to finish. Cole Boston wrapped up the final laps and took the win followed by Ryan Putnam, David Swearingen, Ashley Boyum and Ben Lewis in top points.

Next Saturday, the High Roller Sprint Car Winged and Non-Winged cars will stop by Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway for their 2024 stop and WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Mod Fours and Hornets will also be in action. Racing will resume at 6:30pm.
