Cody Bauer storms to ninth in Wood Tic at Merritt Speedway

Cody Bauer returned to Merritt (MI) Speedway as the Dan Salay Memorial on Friday kicked off the 36th annual Ed VanDuinen Wood Tic weekend.

In a field of 41 Late Models, Bauer stopped the clock second-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. Gunning for a $3,000 preliminary payday in Friday's opener, Cody lost four spots to finish 12th.

On Saturday, Cody had to rely on the use of a provisional into the main event after getting buried in time trials. Starting the $36,000-to-win Ed VanDuinen Wood Tic A-Main in 24th, Bauer advanced through the field 15 spots in the 75-lap affair to register an impressive ninth-place finish.
