Ransomville Speedway Remembering Mackenzie Kulesza and Rusty Merrick This Friday Night

RANSOMVILLE, NY (August 5, 2024) Ransomville Speedway will be remembering two of their own this coming Friday night, August 9 with the running of the Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks. The night will also feature the Rusty Merrick Memorial Kids Rides, named in honor and memory of longtime Ransomville Speedway employee Rusty Merrick who passed away this past off season.

Friday night’s race for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks will pay at least $800 to win plus lap money and other contingencies. The race is in honor and memory of 11-year-old Mackenzie Kulesza who died tragically following a car accident in November 2020. Kenzie’s nature was to see everyone smile. She was known to act like a clown just to see someone smile and had a huge passion for animals and always made sure she would buy something for someone else, every time. Kenzie would be that girl that would jump in a mud puddle while wearing a skirt and have the biggest smile there was. To Kenzie, there were no boundaries for age to earn her friendship. There will be a basket raffle and car show behind the grandstands. To donate a basket for the basket raffle, you can contact Stephanie at (716) 251-9118. Lap sponsorships are available by contact Jenn at (716) 940-8475.

For over a decade, Rusty Merrick was seen all around Ransomville Speedway, mainly as our track gate security. Rusty was a friend to everyone that knew him. Rusty was the kind of person that no matter who you were, he would be willing to give you the shirt off his back. He loved to help everyone, even if that meant he went without. One of the nights he loved the most was when we scheduled Kids Rides. Rusty loved helping our young race fans in and out of the cars. It is only fitting that the Kids Rides at the Ransomville Speedway will ever be known as the Rusty Merrick Memorial Kids Rides.

On track action will see the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks plus the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman, and Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman. Pit gates will open at 5pm, grandstands open at 6pm, and racing will get underway at 7:15pm. For those unable to join us, you can tune into Dirt Track Digest TV.

Adult general admission is $20, seniors 60+ and students 12-17 are $17, and kids 11 and under are admitted FREE.
