Garrett Smith finishes Top-10 with FloRacing Night in America; races into Prairie Dirt Classic
After taking nearly a month off in preparation, Garret Smith made the long haul to Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on Wednesday afternoon to kick off his Prairie Dirt Classic weekend in the $20,000-to-win One for the Road.
With 65 FloRacing Night in America entries on hand, Smith laid down the quickest lap in time trials before picking up the victory in his heat race. Setting off from the front-row in the 50-lap main event, Garrett battled with the lead trio before fading late to finish eighth.
Looking to keep his momentum into PDC weekend, Smith qualified a strong seventh-fastest in his stacked group before finishing seventh in showdown feature.
Rolling off third in his last chance showdown, Garrett picked up the final transfer spot which earned him a spot in the $50,000-to-win main event where he would finish 20th.
