Cole Falloway Dominates 8th Annual Modified MEGA 100 at America’s Baddest Bullring

After a year-long hiatus, the highly anticipated Modified MEGA 100 made its triumphant return to Tyler County Speedway on Saturday night. A star-studded lineup of the best open-wheel racers from ten states competed in the event, which featured a pair of 25-lap preliminaries leading up to the 50-lap main event. North Carolina’s Ty Norder and Kentucky’s Cole Falloway claimed victories in the prelims, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown.

In the $7,500-to-win MEGA event, a formidable field of twenty-four Modified Mafia teams lined up. When Flagman Matt Amick dropped the green flag, it was all Cole Falloway. The young ace from Owensboro, Kentucky, in his first appearance at Tyler County Speedway, took an early lead on the smooth 'Bullring' surface. Falloway expertly navigated through lap traffic, lapping up to the ninth position before the race's only Chris Metz State Farm Insurance caution flag would wave. Once the race resumed, Falloway continued his dominance, crossing the finish line first to claim the $7,500 prize and etch his name on the prestigious MEGA 100 winners list.

While Falloway maintained control at the front, intense racing unfolded behind him. Three-wide battles and strategic maneuvers characterized the action-packed 50-lap event, which saw only one caution. Finishing behind Falloway was fellow Kentuckian Blake Brown in second, North Carolina’s Austin Holcombe in third, and local talents Kyle Thomas and Shawn Jett rounding out the top five.

The Stutler Motorsports Super Lates featured a strong field of 19 competitors. The opening laps saw three different leaders, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Parkersburg, WV’s Colten Burdette eventually took the lead in the Steve Curtis 53c car and never looked back, securing the victory. A rim riding Brandon Weigle would settle for second followed by Travis Brown, Robbie Scott, and Cody Rogers completing the top five.

In the J&R Excavating RUSH Late Model race, Elkins, WV’s Ryan Hare secured his third win of the 2024 season, dominating the field. Hare was followed by AJ Spagnoulo, Brian Nethers, Hayden Jacobs, and Philip Bubeck, making his first appearance of the season.

Eddie Probst celebrated his birthday in style with a win in the Sigler Fabrication Hotmod division. Probst ran a steady race, fending off challenges from 'Big Daddy' Steve Magyar to claim the checkered flag. Magyar, Brian Probst, Carson Thomas, and Lou Ennis followed.

Joey Price of St. Mary’s, WV, triumphed in the SCDRA 4 Cylinder A-Main, finishing ahead of his son Joe Price, Timothy Harlan, Bill Tennant, and Mitch Eddy.

The evening kicked off with the Pathway Real Estate Professional Mini Wedges. In the Junior division, Coen Thomas took the victory, followed by Kolton Thomas and Greyson Smith. Erickson Smith won the Senior class, with Cruz Thomas and Bryson Roberts rounding out the top three.

Join us next Saturday night, August 27th, at Tyler County Speedway as we kick off the annual Tyler County Fair with the traditional Bud Weigle Memorial. It's also 'Back to School' School Supplies and Backpack Giveaway night, so bring the youngsters for an exciting night at the 'Bullring'.
