Trey Mills finishes no worse than seventh in fifth week of Hell Tour; runner-up outing at Wayne County
Losing the first two events of the week to Mother Nature, Trey Mills made his second appearance with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Butler Speedway (Quincy, Mich.) on Thursday afternoon to kick off week five.
With 29 Late Models checked in for the week's opener, Mills lost one spot in his heat to finish third which placed him on the fifth-row for the $5,000-to-win feature. Using all 30 laps to his advantage, Trey made up five spots to finish just off the podium in fourth.
As the field exploded to 53 entries at Crystal (Mich.) Motor Speedway on Friday, Trey earned his spot in the $10,000-to-win A-Main by winning the Last Chance Showdown. Slowly making his way through the field, Mills wound up seventh after 50 laps.
For Saturday's Birthday Race at Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, Ohio), Mills started further back then normal in the $10,000 feature, but rallied by making up nine spots over 50 laps to record another Top-5 finish in fifth.
With the week coming to a close at Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio) on Sunday, Trey secured his best-career finish with the Hell Tour as he raced to a runner-up outing behind champion Tyler Erb.
Mills finished second in the week five point standings.
