Chris Ferguson scores runner-up finish in Black Gold 53 at Beckley Motor Speedway

Joining the Schaeffer's Oil Southern National Series for their opening two events, Chris Ferguson was one of 26 Late Models checked in for the Black Gold 53 at Beckley (W.Va.) Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon.

Stopping the clock fifth-quickest in his qualifying group, Ferguson finished second in his heat race which earned him a starting spot on the third-row. With $10,053 up for grabs in the series opener, Chris made up three positions and ran runner-up to Donald McIntosh in the 53-lap feature.

Traveling to the very fast Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) on Saturday, Ferguson was an early retiree in the 53 lapper after a flat tire caused him to smash the wall.
