Rain shuts down Inline Tube Summer Shootout; Racing returns Friday, July 19th

The Midwest Modifieds Powered by Wheeler Trucking and the Soo I500 Pure Michigan Summer Tour were the guests of Birch Run Speedway on July 12th. For the Modifieds, a 50-lap feature was on tap, paying $2,000 to win. The Mr. Asphalt/Bridge Lake Auto&Truck Parts Sportsmen joined the Modifieds on the four-tenths mile, with the Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks, Nelson Hydraulics American Trucks, Top Speed Motorsports Spectator Drags, and the Figure 8's ready to tackle the third mile.

Twenty teams, representing five different states, timed in to try and claim the Economy Auto Parts Quick Time award in Midwest Modifieds qualifying, but it was three-time and defending Birch Run Speedway Champion David McManus at the top of the charts with a 16.210 lap.

The Mr. Asphalt/Bridge Lake Auto&Truck Parts Sportsmen top qualifier was Dan Leeck. Jim Miller Jr. was quickest for the Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks and Cam DeLong set fast time in the Nelson Hydraulics American Trucks.

In preliminary racing action, Hunter Doutre won the Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stock heat race, with Anthony Williams picking up the Australian Pursuit on a last-lap pass of Chris Wilber.

Mark Wilcox was the victor in the Nelson Hydraulics American Trucks six-lap heat. The Australian Pursuit was up next for the Trucks, however, an isolated storm cell moved over the track after a caution after lap one. The rain intensified, forcing track officials to cancel the remainder of the night's events.

Unfortunately, officials at Birch Run Speedway and with the Midwest Modifieds Tour could not find a date to reschedule the Inline Tube Summer Shootout, so that event will not be made up.

The next event on the schedule for Birch Run Speedway and Event Center will feature three classes on the four-tenths mile as the Wheeler Trucking Modifieds, the Showcase Auto Sales Street Stocks, and the Limited Late Models will all be in action. The Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks and the Top Speed Motorsports Spectator Drags will be joining the card on the third mile in a night presented by FastLane Auto Auction.
