SHANE WOLF WINS MATEO HOPE MEMORIAL

RANSOMVILLE, NY (July 12, 2024) Shane Wolf from Susquehanna, PA won the Mateo Hope Memorial for the Butler Excavating Empire Street Stock Series at the Ransomville Speedway Friday night. Gary Lindberg from Ridgeway, Ontario won his fourth Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature of the season. Cody McPherson from St. Catharines, Ontario won the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman feature for his 15th career triumph at Ransomville. Tyler Foster from Pendleton, NY won his second Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature. Performance Manufacturing, and Atwal Eye Care presented the racing action, which included the annual go-kart exhibition for The Little R.

Gary Lindberg and Brandon Michaud brought the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds to the green flag for their 30-lap event, with Lindberg leading Michaud, Steve Lewis Jr, Noah Walker, and Ryan Susice. Susice would go three wide with Walker and Michaud to take over third place on lap five, as Lindberg would pull away from the field. Susice would pass Lewis on lap eight to take over second place. Lindberg would hit the back half of the field. Williamson would muscle his way past Walker for fourth place and then would go after Lewis for third place with 10 laps remaining. Lindberg would drive away from the field to score his fourth win of the season, and eighth of his career, tying him with Bruce VanDyke, Ron Smoker, and Brett Hearn for 36th on the all-time wins list.

Derek Wagner and DJ Rosinski were on the front row for the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman main event, with Wagner showing the way. Cody McPherson would take over third from Dave Conant on lap six and would go after Rosinski for second place. McPherson would take over second on lap eight and would go after Wagner for the lead. McPherson would take the lead away from Wagner on lap 19 and would go on to score the feature win, his fourth of the season and 15th of his career at Ransomville.

Damian Long and Brandon Sherwood brought the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks to the green flag for their Butler Excavating Empire Street Stock Series event, with Sherwood showing the way early on, ahead of Long and Jimmy Grant. Shane Wolf would pass Grant to take over third place on lap two. Larry Vick and Justin Neff got together in turn four to bring out the race’s first caution on lap four. On the restart, Sherwood would continue to show the way. Jimmy Grant was able to use lap traffic to reel in Sherwood and Wolf, making it a three-car battle for the lead. The caution would come out for debris on lap 18, setting up a restart. Wolf would take over the lead on lap 18 and would pull away from the field. Joey Zimmerman slowed in turn four to bring out the caution on lap 24. The late-race restart would see Wolf pull away as Sherwood was holding off Jimmy Grant. Wolf would pull away to score the win ahead of Sherwood, Jimmy Grant, Mike Welch and Pat Hobbs would complete the top five. The finish of the race is under review pending post-race tech. The next scheduled race for the Butler Excavation and Concrete Empire Street Stock Series will take place on July 24 at Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua. The Series will return to Ransomville on September 6 for the John Susice Memorial.

Tyler Foster and Cameron Rowlands led the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman to the green flag for their feature event, with Foster in the lead ahead of Sheldon Gardner, with Rowlands, Kyle Teeter, and Nigel Pendykoski racing in the top five. Kyle Teeter would spin in turn two to bring out the caution on lap four. Pendykoski would spin in turn two on the ensuing restart. Third place running Cameron Rowlands spun in turn two to bring out the caution on lap five. Foster would go on to score his second win of the year.

Next Friday night will be the $2,000 to win Kyle Inman Memorial for the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman. The Sportsman will be joined by the 358 Modifieds, Mini Stocks, and Novice Sportsman. It will also be the annual Kids Poster Contest! Pit gates will open at 5pm, grandstands open at 6pm, and racing will get underway at 7:15pm.
