Overheating issues spoil solid outing at Cherokee Speedway
Headed to one of his home tracks on Wednesday, Chris Ferguson checked into Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) for the $10,000-to-win Grassy Smith Memorial.
Topping the 27-car field in qualifying, Ferguson led flag-to-flag in his heat race and started on the pole of the 40-lap feature. Leading early in the main event, Chris gave up the lead to Ross Bailes before he pulled in with overheating problems. He was scored eighth in the final rundown.
