RTJ rolls to second in Freedom 60 at Muskingum County

Ricky Thornton Jr. returned to action on Monday evening after using Sunday as travel day to the Land of 10,000 Lakes for the XR Super Series sanctioned opener at Proctor (Minn.) Speedway.

Starting Monday’s feature in ninth, Thornton climbed one spot in the 40-lap affair to finish eighth.

Following a seventh-place finish in Tuesday’s stop at Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.), Ricky wrapped up the three-day XR Super Series on Wednesday with the Minnesota Mega at Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway. With a heat win placing him on the pole for the $50,000-to-win A-Main, Thornton rolled to a third-place finish in the 50-lapper, chasing Bobby Pierce and Devin Moran to the checkers.

After Friday’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) rain out at Portsmouth (Ohio) Raceway Park, Thornton’s weekend concluded with a fifth-to-second run in the Freedom 60 at Muskingum County Speedway (Zanesville, Ohio).

Ricky holds a 235-point margin atop the latest LOLMDS point standings.

Back in action on Monday, Ricky charged from 20th-to-7th in the Castrol FloRacing Night in America A-Main at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway aboard the Stevie Sheppard No. 5S Late Model.
