Brandon Sheppard strings together strong midwestern WoO swing
Kicking off a busy week with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, series point leader Brandon Sheppard joined 26 Super Late Model entries at Independence (Iowa) Motor Speedway on Monday for the Storm Shield Shootout.
With a flag-to-flag heat showing sending him into the redraw, Sheppard climbed four positions in the 30-lap opener to finish second.
In another podium outing on Tuesday at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa), Brandon joined race-winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Brian Shirley on the podium.
After Thursday’s scheduled stop at I-94 EMR Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minn.) fell victim to Mother Nature and Friday’s event at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.) was shifted to Sunday, Brandon added another third-place finish in Saturday’s Heartland Grand Tour A-Main at Norman County Raceway (Ada, Minn.).
Sheppard’s weekend wrapped up on Sunday with his seventh consecutive Top-5 finish in the feature. Gunning for the $12,000 top prize at River Cities Speedway, Brandon vaulted forward five spots in the 40-lap finale to finish fourth.
On the heels of a strong midwestern string, Sheppard holds a 30 point lead atop the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
