Holland drives Modified to Magnolia State weekend sweep

Chase Holland snagged his 12th and 13th feature victories of the year over the weekend at a pair of tracks in his home state of Mississippi.

Holland’s Modified double dip began in a 20-car field at Hattiesburg Speedway on Friday as part of the 12th annual Curtis Burns Memorial. He clocked the quickest lap in qualifying and turned in a third-place showing in the top-six dash reserved for the six best qualifiers. Holland then began the 25-lap feature on the quarter-mile oval from the third spot and drove to the $1,400 victory in front of Jade Luzenberg, Hunter Breland, Kevin Cumbie and Noah Daspit.

On Saturday, Holland and his No. 45 Modified team moved on to Meridian, Mississippi, and Whynot Motorsports Park for a $1,000-to-win program that brought 21 cars to the quarter-mile oval.

Holland posted a perfect evening at the “House of Hook” as he qualified on the pole, won his heat race and took the checkered flag in the 25-lap feature. He grabbed the lead for the first time on Lap 18 of the main event and never looked back, crossing the start-finish line 2.074 seconds ahead of Luzenberg. Breland, Daspit and Greg Hollingsworth rounded out the top five.
