Schrader Embarks on Busy Week

Ken Schrader kicked off a busy week of racing on Wednesday evening at Michigan's Owosso Speedway. Behind wheel of a Wheeler Trucking Racing entry Ken squared off against a field of 38 entries.

Via preliminary action he edged his way into the 24-car starting field for the main event, where he started 19th. Unfortunately, he suffered damage in the feature, which resulted in a bent bumper and overheating conditions. Schrader ultimately retired to a 20th-place finish.

Action continued for Ken on Thursday night at Brad Denney's Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), where he took part in the DIRTcar UMP Modified Summer Nationals program.

Thirty-two racers registered for competition, and after qualifying 13th fastest in his group he was only able to manage a sixth-place finish in his heat race. From there Schrader's outlook didn't improve as a fifth-place finish brought his outing to an early end.

DIRTcar Summer Nationals competition took Ken to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.) on Saturday night. With 32 entries setting their sights on the win, Schrader qualified 12th in his group, which pinned him sixth on the starting grid for his heat race. He was able to race past two competitors to finish fourth. Starting 16th in the feature he advanced to an 11th-place finish.

On Sunday evening the action shifted to Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway for another DIRTcar Summer Nationals event. For the second-straight night Schrader finished fourth in his heat race. Rolling off the feature grid from the 12th-starting spot Ken went on to earn a ninth-place finish.
