Carlos Ahumada Jr. races USMTS foes at Cedar Lake

A trip to New Richmond, Wisconsin’s Cedar Lake Speedway for the 25th annual USMTS Masters was on the docket for Carlos Ahumada Jr. over Father’s Day weekend.

The three-day program kicked off on Thursday at the 3/8-mile clay oval, where Ahumada was one of 44 Summit USMTS drivers in the pit area. He began the night with a fourth-place finish in his heat race, but faded in his B-Main and came home ninth, ending his evening in advance of the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win feature.

On Friday, with 48 Modifieds at Cedar Lake, Ahumada finished fifth in his heat and 17th in his "B." As a result, he was unable to qualify for the 40-lap A-Main paying $5,000 to the victor.

Rain washed out Saturday’s scheduled $12,000-to-win Masters finale and Sunday’s slated $5,000-to-win event at Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.

With the Cedar Lake Speedway events in the books, Ahumada holds the 18th position in the USMTS point standings.
