Tyler Emory scores late victory in AMS opener at Clinton County

Reigning miniseries champ Tyler Emory returned to action on Friday night at Clinton County Motor Speedway (Mill Hall, Pa.) aboard his Coombs Bus & Truck No. 72 Late Model for the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek opener.

Against a field of 39 Late Model competitors for the Sam Ray Memorial, Emory claimed the overall fast time honors and a new track record in qualifying before placing second in the dash. Starting the feature in third, Tyler tracked down Drake Troutman on the final lap and made an inside move in the final corner to secure the last-lap victory. He earned his second win of the season and the $5,000 top prize ahead of Troutman, Matt Cosner, Gregg Satterlee, and Andrew Yoder.

On Saturday at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.), Tyler made hard contact with the wall in turns three and four while leading his heat but was able to walk away unharmed. Nearly racing into a transfer spot in his B-Main after pulling out his secondary car, Emory charged from 11th up to fifth however his night over with only the top-three moving on.

Tyler's weekend concluded on Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.) with a runner-up finish in the main event at the half-mile oval. He set the pace early in the 35-lapper but couldn’t hold off a charging Gregg Satterlee in the final laps, marking him second in the final rundown.

Despite Saturday’s early exit, Tyler climbed to seventh in the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek point standings.
