Sam Seawright
Seawright runner-up in Southern Showcase opener; podium outing at Cochran
Returning to the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, Sam Seawright was one of 29 Super Late Models at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway for the first night of the Southern Showcase.
Locking in the Top-10 in qualifying, Seawright laid down the second-fastest lap in his group which placed him on the second-row for the $5,000-to-win opener. In the quick 30-lap shootout, Sam moved into the runner-up spot when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Brandon Overton while Carson Ferguson completed the podium.
With the field elevated to 35 entries for Saturday's finale, Sam was quickest overall but lost a spot in his heat race to finish second. Rolling off fifth with $20,000 on the line, Seawright ran inside the Top-10 until smacking wall around halfway. With too much damage to the car, Sam was only able to salvage a 20th-place finish.
Sam currently sits runner-up to Brandon Overton in the HTFSDS point standings.
Capping off this weekend at Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway on Sunday, Seawright started the $7,500-to-win Georgia Rumble from fourth before slipping over the embankment on lap 2. Sam rallied to finish on the podium in third.
