Legends Night at Tyler County Speedway Honors New Inductees and Crowns Multiple Winners

The Tyler County Speedway eagerly welcomed race fans back to the ‘Bullring’ after a brief hiatus due to Mother Nature. An impressive 139 racers filled the pits, each aiming for a spot in the EQT Victory Lane. By the end of the night, the victorious drivers were Tyler Carpenter, KC Burdette, Ryan Hare, Tom Sigler, TJ Arnold, Kendall Hodge, Timothy Harlan, Gale Ruth Jr., Coen Thomas, and Joey Miller. It was a special evening as we celebrated the Legends of the Bullring Booster Club Night, honoring the newest Class of 2024 inductees: Bobby Keith, Steve Shaver, Todd Gorrell, Steve Steele, and Steve & Sharon McVey.

A strong field of 17 Stutler Motorsports Super Late Models gathered at the ‘Bullring’ for night #3 of the 2024 season. When the checkered flag dropped on the main event, it was Tyler Carpenter once again claiming victory in the Tyler County Speedway Victory Lane. The Parkersburg, WV racer has parked his Kryptonite #28 machine in the EQT Victory Lane in both of his appearances so far this season. There was never any doubt in the minds of race fans when flagman Matt Amick’s green flag waved, as the ‘Kamikaze Kid’ launched off the front row and masterfully navigated the well-manicured ‘Bullring’ to lead all 25 laps. Carpenter went unchallenged throughout the event, skillfully maneuvering through lap traffic. Meanwhile, the battle for the runner-up position was intense. James Dennis and Ryan Payne engaged in a classic Saturday Night showdown at the ‘Bullring,’ racing side by side for most of the race. Dennis eventually secured second place, finishing behind Carpenter, who was in a league of his own. Rounding out the top five were Payne, Kyle Thomas, and Steve Weigle.

Former Mini Wedge track champion, Ryan Hare of Elkins, WV would take the top spot in the J&R Excavating RUSH Late Model division. It would be Hare’s first big car feature win at the ‘Bullring’. The youngster would run a very smooth feature, laying down consistent speed lap after lap. He would be hunted by veterans Kyle Thomas and AJ Spagnuolo throughout the race but the night belonged to Hare as he turned back all challengers. Following Hare across the line were Thomas, Spagnuolo, Lane Brock and Michael Moreland.

A stacked field of 29 Jenkins Auto Parts UMP Modifieds would take to the track with Parkersburg, WV’s KC Burdette bagging his second triumph of the season. ‘Burdizzle’ would set fast time, launch from the 4th starting spot in the dash to take the win and lead green to checker to collect Saturday Night’s prize money. The race behind the leader would see cars scattered out two by two and sometimes three wide around the high bank quarter mile as battles raged throughout the caution free event. Behind Burdette at the pay window was Jason Brookover, who would win the race long battle for second over Chad Smith. Rounding out the top five were Cody Brightwell and Tyler Stutler.

In the lone appearance of the 2024 Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Sprint Car Sunbelt Rentals Weekly Series opener on Saturday Night it was Gale Ruth Jr. picking up the victory. Ruth would park the McConnell Family Racing 24 ahead of Blaze Myers and John Mollick.

The rescheduled Tammy Clegg Tribute race for the Hotmods would be marred with some post-race rulebook technicalities but picking up the win would be St. Mary’s, WV racer Tom Sigler. Sigler would become a first-time winner of the prestigious event and lead Eddie Probst, Josh Sigler, Jason Todd and Santino Loretta to the checkered flag.

A bulging pit area of Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmods would see the 32 car field split up into two features with TJ Arnold and Kendall Hodge scoring trips to the EQT Victory Lane. In the A Feature it would be Marietta, Ohio’s TJ Arnold grabbing the three-peat but it would not come easy as the 8up machine of Sonny Leek would set the early pace. A daring mid race maneuver by Arnold on the outside would give the talented wheelman the lead and his third consecutive win at the ‘Bullring’. Following Arnold to the pay window was Sonny Leek, newcomer Brayden Rose, Jeff Gorrell and Allen Clark.

In the B Feature a great four car dash would set the tone amongst the top two rows of the feature making for an outstanding race. Kendall Hodge would park his #91 machine in the EQT Victory Lane for the first time in the 2024 season by holding off defending track champion Lance Weppler in his maiden voyage this season. Following Hodge across the line was Weppler, Wesley Reed, a charging Ryan Yates and Tyler Spencer.

In the finish of the night, Timothy Harlan would eek out a win in the SCDRA 4 Cylinder division by a mere .018 at the line over race long leader Jacob Hughes to snare back to back wins. Following Harlan and Hughes across the stripe were Wesley Tennant, Beau Thomas and Mitch Eddy.

In the Pathway Real Estate Professional Mini Wedge division it would be Coen Thomas remaining unbeaten in the Junior division as the youngster would pilot the #7JR kart across the line ahead of Greyson Smith and Aly Leek. In the Senior class it was Joey Miller picking up his first trip to the EQT Victory lane ahead of Eli Smith and Cruz Thomas.
