Carson Ferguson takes part in Illinois Speedweek with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
Losing the first half of Illinois Speedweek to wet weather, Carson Ferguson kicked off his weekend at Famer City (Ill.) Raceway on Friday afternoon with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Making up ground in his heat race, Ferguson positioned himself well for the B-Main where he would win and earn a spot in the $25,000-to-win main event. Carson made up a few spots in the lengthy 74-lap feature before going for a spin on the frontstretch and recording a 21st-place finish.
Picking up speed for Saturday's Spring Shootout at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway, Carson qualified fifth-quickest in his stacked qualifying group and was running second in his heat race before another competitor sent him spinning on a restart. Ferguson was forced to take a provisional starting spot for the $30,000-to-win feature and made up five spots to finish 21st.
Ferguson is currently 24th in the LOLMDS point standings.
