Dale McDowell notches runner-up finish at Smoky Mountain Speedway
Dale McDowell joined a strong contingent of 44 Late Models over the weekend for Saturday's Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series-sanctioned King of the Mountain at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.).
Piloting his E-Z-GO No. 17m Late Model, Dale set the pace in his 22-car group in time trials before picking up a convincing heat race win. Regaining his starting position from Brandon Overton in the feature following a lap-43 restart, McDowell posted a second-place finish in the 50-lapper. He trailed race-long pacesetter Ryan Gustin to the checkers with Overton rounding out the podium.
