Drake Troutman tackles LOLMDS competition at Georgetown and Port Royal

Drake Troutman continued his Rookie of the Year pursuit with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the weekend as the series kicked off an eastern swing on Friday evening at Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.).

With 40 Late Models entered for the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial, Troutman missed out on hot laps and time trials but was able to rebound in his heat with a 10th-to-6th showing. Sneaking into the $19,049-to-win A-Main with the final transfer spot in his consolation race, Drake suffered a flat right-front tire on lap 24 that relegated him to 19th in the finishing order.

After Saturday’s Conococheague 50 at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.) fell to wet weather, Drake rejoined the LOLMDS on Sunday at (Port Royal, Pa.) for the Battle in the Borough. Starting the feature in 16th via fourth-place finish in his heat, Troutman ran as high as ninth in the 40-lapper before ultimately crossing the line in 13th.

Drake sits 90 markers behind Clay Harris for the lead in the LOLMDS Rookie of the Year chase.
