Mitchell takes on USMTS foes in the Sooner State
Jon Mitchell rejoined the Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Friday and Saturday to compete in two $5,000-to-win shows in Oklahoma.
First up on Friday was a trip to the state-of-the-art Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, where 40 USMTS Modifieds were on hand for the Spring Salute. Mitchell won his heat race on the 1/3-mile track, positioning him fifth on the grid to start the 40-lap feature. He faded during the race and finished in the 23rd position.
On Saturday, it was off to Pocola and the mighty Tri-State Speedway. Mitchell was one of 41 entrants in the ninth annual USMTS Juggernaut at the 3/8-mile oval. After a sixth-place run in his heat, Mitchell finished 12th in his B-Main, bringing his night to a close before the 40-lap main event.
