Best finish of 7th for Mullens in USMTS Sooner State swing
Tanner Mullens rolled on with the 2024 Summit USMTS National Championship schedule on Friday and Saturday in a pair of events at Oklahoma tracks.
On Friday, the Spring Salute brought 40 USMTS Modified drivers to the state-of-the-art Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord in search of a $5,000 first-place payday. Mullens claimed the fifth spot in his heat race on the 1/3-mile oval and transferred into the main event with a fourth-place result in his B-Main. He drove forward three spots from his starting position in the 40-lapper to finish 17th.
The next night, 41 USMTS Modifieds filled the pit area at the mighty Tri-State Speedway in Pocola for the ninth annual USMTS Juggernaut. Mullens took the heat race win at the 3/8-mile speed plant and started sixth in the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. After running in the top five early, he came home with a seventh-place finish.
Mullens is currently eighth in USMTS points.
