Kyle Steffens scores podium finish in Illini 100 at Farmer City
Making his first start of the season in the Modified ranks, Kyle Steffens visited Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Friday to compete in the MARS Modified Racing Series portion for the Illini 100 weekend.
Aboard his Performance Plus Global Logistics No. 8 Modified, Steffens squeezed into the Friday’s opener with a third-place finish in his heat race. With a $2,000 payday up for grabs, Kyle muscled forward five spots in the 30-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.
On Saturday, Kyle followed up the fourth-fastest qualifying lap in his 22-car group with a flag-to-flag victory in his eight-lap heat race. Starting the $2,000-to-win finale in third, Steffens rolled to a consistent third-place finish in the 30-lap affair. He stood alongside Mike McKinney and Michael Long on the podium.
With the first two events in the books, Steffens sits third in the MARS point standings.
