Brian Shirley competes in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader

With the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series doubleheader in Tennessee wiped out by weather, Brian Shirley took the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3 Late Model into battle with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for Saturday's Indiana Icebreaker.

Against a stacked field of 47 cars, Shirley edged his way into the $15,000-to-win main event with the final transfer spot in his heat. Pinned on the eighth row, Brian faded two positions to finish 17th.

For Sunday's Buckeye Spring 50 at Atomic Speedway (Chillicothe, Ohio), Brian backed up another fourth-place heat showing with a 14th-place finish in the 50-lap feature.
