McCowan Returns to GIS

Dillon McCowan returned to Golden Isles Speedway (Waynesville, Ga.) over the weekend for the final rounds of the Georgia-Florida Speedweeks action.

The Deuces Wild weekend for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) was scheduled to open with a $10,000-to-win program on Friday night, but Mother Nature had other ideas, washing the program away.

On Saturday the on-track festivities finally came to life with a single $20,000-to-win event. Dillon registered a solid qualifying effort in the 45-car field with the eighth-fastest time in his group. After missing the transfer from his heat race by a single position, McCowan was able to finish third in his B-Main, which positioned him 21st on the starting gird for the 50-lap finale.

With passing coming at a premium, Dillon retired from the event on the 28th circuit to save his equipment. He was credited with a 24th-place finish in the final rundown.
