Winger wins pair of prelim features; runner-up in Clay by the Bay at East Bay
Swapping his No. 12 Super Late Model out for his Crate Late Model ride, Ashton Winger invaded East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) on Thursday afternoon for the first night of the Clay by the Bay.
As 91 Crate Racin' USA Late Models checked in for the evening, Winger started his preliminary feature from the pole position and led all 25-laps to score the victory over Matt Henderson and Tyler Millwood.
With another preliminary night on tap Friday, Ashton once again started the 25-lap feature from the front-row. Taking the lead on lap three, Winger dominated the A-Main and collected his second $1,000 payday of the weekend.
Locked into Saturday's $5,000-to-win feature on the front-row, Winger swapped the lead multiple times with Kyle Hardy but ultimately came up one spot short in the 50-lap finale. He trailed Hardy while Richie Stephens, Will Roland, and Zack Carley completed the Top-5.
