BShep fifth in Golden Isles' Super Bowl of Racing opener
Brandon Sheppard entered the Longhorn Factory Team No. B5 Late Model into battle at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday for the tripleheader event with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
With 51 competitors amassed at the 4/10-mile oval, Sheppard climbed one spot in his heat to finish second, locking him on the fourth row for the opener. With $10,000 on the line, Brandon gained three spots to register a fifth-place finish, which came behind Hudson O’Neal, Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Overton, and Ricky Thornton Jr.
After the second round of the Super Bowl of Racing was washed out by wet weather on Friday, Brandon secured his spot into the $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday with a runner-up heat finish. Rolling off on the fifth row, Sheppard recorded a consistent ninth-place outing in the 60-lap affair.
