Haiden Cowan kicks off 2024 Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park

On Friday afternoon, Haiden Cowan opened up his 2024 season with a trip to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals opener after Thursday's event fell to heavy rain storms.

In a stacked field of 56 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries, Haiden missed the mark in qualifying and only made up one spot in his heat which pushed him a B-Main. Needing a Top-2 finish, Cowan recorded a ninth-place finish.

Hoping for better luck in Saturday's $15,000-to-win feature, Cowan struggled in qualifying again before moving past three competitors in his heat race to finish sixth. With one more shot to make the A-Main, Haiden finished just a few spots out of a transfer.
