Junghans eighth in Wild West Shootout at Vado Speedway Park
Debuting in a brand new MB Customs Late Model to kick off his 2024 campaign, Chase Junghans was one of 44 entries amassed at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) on Saturday for the first round of the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout.
With the 44-car field divided into two groups for qualifying, Junghans timed in seventh-fastest in his group before placing third in his heat race. Starting the $11,000-to-win A-Main in ninth, Chase muscled forward one spot in the 40-lap affair to register an eighth-place finish.
Chasing another $11,000 top prize on Sunday, Chase stormed into the main event with a seventh-to-third charge in his heat. Rolling off on the sixth row, Junghans rallied to finish 16th after getting turned around on the second circuit.
Chase is currently ninth in the Wild West Shootout point standings.
