Seawright salvages fifth-place finish in Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track
Kicking off the 2024 racing season in January, Sam Seawright made the short trip to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Friday afternoon for night one of the 33rd-running of the Ice Bowl.
With 31 Super Late Models checked in, Sam topped his qualifying group and went on to dominate his heat race and earn a front-row starting position in Saturday's A-Main.
Rolling off from the outside pole in the $7,500-to-win main event, Seawright jumped into the lead before getting tangled with Pierce McCarter in the first corner. Only sustaining minor damage, Seawright was able to move through the field and rallied for a fifth-place finish. He trailed Ryan Gustin, Oakley Johns, Christian Hanger, and Ray Cook who completed the Top-5.
