Dillard dominates WWS opener, wins Sunday's portion in Modified
Cade Dillard has hit the ground running on his 2024 campaign with four wins already collected during the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout at FK Rod Ends Vado Speedway Park.
He picked up an $11,000 Super Late Model victory last Saturday aboard his S&S Fishing & Rental Inc. / Production Jars No. 97 Longhorn Race Car / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model before adding a trio of wins behind the wheel of his S&S Fishing & Rental Inc. / Johnsville Company No. 97 Joel’s Auto Sales / Krohn Farms / CDR Race Car / Durham Racing Engine Modified.
“Man, we’ve had a great start to the week out here at the Wild West Shootout. Our CDR Race Car Modified has been incredible every night, and we’ve been good in the Late Model as well. We’ve got so many great people, who support this program, and I love being able to give them so much tv time in Victory Lane. We’re fired up for the final three rounds of racing,” Dillard said.
The 2024 season officially kicked off for Robeline, Louisiana's Cade Dillard on Saturday evening with the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout at the pristine Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park.
Entered in the Super Late Model and Modified ranks, Dillard picked up a pair of heat wins in both divisions, locking him into the redraw. Starting on the front row for the Super Late Model feature, Cade took command of the lead on the opening circuit and fended off a late charge from Bobby Pierce to secure his first win of the season and an $11,000 payday.
In another dominating effort in his Joel’s Auto Sales No. 97 Modified, Cade stormed ahead Jacob Hobscheidt on lap eight of the A-Main and paced the remainder of the 25-lapper, chalking up his second win of the evening. He earned $2,000 ahead of Johnny Scott, Terry Phillips, Dan Ebert, and Hobscheidt.
The following night, Dillard raced into the $11,000-to-win Late Model feature with a runner-up showing in his heat. Inching into the Top-5, Cade jumped up one spot to register a fifth-place finish.
Pulling off a repeat in the Modified ranks, Cade backed up an impressive ninth-to-third run in his heat with his third win of the 2024 season with the flag-to-flag victory in the 25-lap feature. The win elevated his weekend winnings to $15,000.
On Wednesday evening Dillard once again dominated the Modified competition to snare his third win in as many tries in the division and his fourth victory overall. He now just needs two triumphs in the final three events to claim the $15,000 Wehrs Machine Five-Or-More Bonus.
Wednesday Super Late Model action found Dillard racing into the main event, where he started ninth before crossing the finish line in seventh.
Cade currently leads the Wild West Shootout Modified point standings and is third in the Late Model chase.

Dillard returns to action in both the Super Late Model and Modified competition at the Wild West Shootout this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with the final three rounds of the miniseries.
