Ahumada Jr. takes top-10 result at The Dome
Carlos Ahumda Jr. wrapped up his 2023 season with a trip to The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis for the Gateway Dirt Nationals. He drove his Hacienda Motorsports No. 65x Modified to a ninth-place result in the prestigious indoor race.
With 58 Modifieds in attendance, preliminary action was divided across two nights, with the top three in the features locking into Saturday’s finale. Ahumada finished third in his heat race during his prelim night on Friday, putting him in the 20-lap, $3,000-to-win A-Main on the 1/5-mile track. He started ninth and finished 11th.
On Saturday, Ahumada took the third and final transfer spot in his qualifier to advance to the night’s 30-lap, $10,000-to-win Modified feature. He started 18th and marched steadily forward to finish in the ninth spot.
Ahumada claimed four feature wins, 12 top-five finishes and 29 top-10 results during the 2023 campaign, while also finishing 14th in the Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) National point standings.
In addition, Carlos Ahumada Sr. competed in nine events during the season.
