Tim Ward grabs prelim victory at Central Arizona Raceway
Returning to his home state of Arizona, Tim Ward trekked west to kick off the Showdown at CAR presented by Toste Construction at Central Arizona Raceway (Casa Grande, Ari.) with a pair of prelims on Friday and Saturday leading up to Sunday’s finale.
Amongst a field of 38 Modifieds, Ward raced into the opener with a fifth-to-second run in his heat race. Taking the green from the fourth row in the feature, Tim stole second from pole-starting K.C. Dieckman on the ninth circuit and took command of the top spot five laps later. Leading on lap 20 when the race was called five laps short due to time restraints, Ward was awarded his 26th win of the season, which ahead of Chaz Baca, Austin Kuehl, Luke Silber, and Spencer Wilson. He earned a $1,000 payday.
Back in action on Sunday, Tim’s seventh-to-third charge in his heat positioned him on the fourth row for the $3,000-to-win Showdown at CAR finale. Wheeling on the podium, Ward advanced forward four spots in the 40-lapper to register a third-place finish. He chased Jeff Taylor and Jason Noll to the checkers with Kollin Hibdon and Austin Kuehl rounding out the Top-5.

Ward now turns his attention to The Dome at America's Center (St. Louis, Mo.) as he will cap off his stellar 2023 season with the Gateway Dirt Nationals. Tim's preliminary night will kick off on Friday, December 15th with Saturday's finale boasting a $10,000 top prize for the Modified division.
