Hedgecock second with Crate Racin' USA at Magnolia
Cory Hedgecock returned with the Crate Racin’ USA tour over the weekend as the two-day Dr. Dirt Hall of Fame Classic drew 49 competitors to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.).
With prelims on Friday setting the grid for Saturday’s main event, Hedgecock outran a hard-charging Clay Harris in his heat race to secure the 10-lap victory.
Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in fourth, Cory zipped ahead of pole-starting Ty Giles on third circuit and led the ensuing 44 laps before a charging Mark Whitener took command. He went onto place second in the 75-lapper, which came behind Whitener with Jose Parga, Clay Harris, and Randall Beckwith rounding out the Top-5.
