Cheatham Racing visits EAMS for National 100 weekend
Both Briar and Jake Cheatham returned to action over the weekend as the 49th annual National 100 kicked off on Friday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.).
With prelims on Friday setting the grid for Saturday’s features for the Street Stock ranks, Jake’s seventh-place finish in his heat positioned him on the seventh row for the A-Main.
Jake’s weekend drew to an early close after scratching from his feature on Saturday while Briar’s weekend was just getting started. In a field of 38 604 Crate Late Models, Cheatham timed in 17th-fastest in his group, relegating him into a consolation race on Sunday afternoon.
Needing to place second or better to make the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Briar failed to transfer out of his 10-lap B-Main but did cap off the weekend on a high note by moving forward to finish eighth.
