Troutman tallies top-10 finish in Modified at The Dirt Track at Charlotte
Hopping behind the wheel of the Jerry Foster Racing No. 5 Longhorn Chassis Modified, Drake Troutman trekked to The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C) to kick off the three-day event with Thursday’s All-Star Invitational.
Amongst a field of 44 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Troutman qualified for the 15-lap preliminary with the fastest lap in his 20-car qualifying group. Starting in sixth via the pill draw, Drake muscled forward two spots to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Kyle Strickler, Justin Haley, and Evan Taylor across the line with Mike McKinney coming in fifth.
In a flawless appearance on Friday, Troutman followed up the fast time honors in his time trial group with a flag-to-flag victory in his heat, sending him into Saturday’s redraw.
Earning the pole for the $4,000-to-win A-Main, Drake suffered a flat right-rear tire in the closing laps of the 30-lapper that sentenced him to the tail. He salvaged a 10th-place finish in the final five circuits.
