Holcombe scores World Short Track Championship victory in Pro Modified
Competing in both the Pro Modified and DIRTcar UMP Modified divisions, Austin Holcombe visited The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Thursday afternoon for the World Short Track Championship.
In Thursday's special Championship Feature, Holcombe started the 15-lap feature from the 11th-position and finished inside the Top-10 in sixth.
With heat races slated for Friday evening, Austin was unable to make up any spots in his UMP Mod and placed seventh. In his Pro Mod heat race, Holcombe took home the win after starting third.
Taking a provisional starting position in the DIRTcar UMP Modified feature, Austin stormed through the field and made his way onto the podium in third in just 30 laps. Hoping to find the same speed in his Pro Modified feature, Holcombe started the feature from third and took the top spot on the opening lap. Leading all 25-laps, Austin scored a $1,500 payday as he outran Booman Galloway and Ryan Ayers who completed the Top-3.
