Ward second in Darkside Fall Bash finale at Cedar County Raceway
Coming off a prelim victory in the Treek Strong Creek Classic a week prior at 141 Speedway, Harcourt, Iowa’s, Tim Ward returned to action on Wednesday evening at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa) as the 30th annual Gary Reinhart Memorial kicked off the Darkside Fall Bash weekend.
Drawing 35 IMCA Modifieds, Ward was buried by a bad draw in his heat but rallied into opener with an eighth-to-fourth run in his consolation race. Chasing a $1,500 top prize in the A-Main, Tim advanced eighth spots to finish 15th.
On Thursday, Tim followed up a seventh-place finish in his heat with a second-place finish in his B-Main. Nearly cracking the top-five from the 10th row in the feature, Ward passed 14 cars to register an impressive sixth-place finish.
Ward’s night on Friday came to an early end after a fourth-place result in his heat relegated him into a B-Main where he elected to scratch.
The Darkside Fall Bash drew to a close on Saturday with Tim storming into the $3,000-to-win main finale with an impressive 10th-to-3rd display in his heat race. He led the opening 33 circuits before being overtaken by eventual race-winner Dylan Thornton on lap 34. Todd Shute, Brandon Durbin, and Jeff Larson completed the top-five finishers in the 50-lap affair.
