Ramirez races to top-5 finish in USMTS Fall Jamboree opener
Dereck Ramirez returned to the driver’s seat of his S&S Fishing + Rental No. 4R Modified on Thursday evening to participate in the first night of the 25th annual United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Fall Jamboree.
Ramirez, the 2021 USMTS champion, was among 81 series competitors at the 3/8-mile Deer Creek Speedway for the slated three-day show. He turned in the third-quickest time in his Thursday group qualifying session and finished third in his heat race after starting sixth.
Ramirez began the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win A-Main from the second position and came home fifth after racing in the top five throughout the evening. He crossed under the checkered flag behind Rodney Sanders, Tanner Mullens, Brandon Davis and Jason Hughes.
After Thursday’s action, Ramirez remains sixth in the USMTS National standings.
The Friday and Saturday Fall Jamboree programs were rained out, with a makeup date planned for next spring.
