Sixth-place finish in Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals prelim feature
Chris Ferguson was one of 40 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at the immaculate Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) on Thursday as the 19th annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals got underway.
Following the second-fastest qualifying lap in his 20-car group, Ferguson raced into the opening night prelim with an impressive sixth-to-first run in his heat race. Losing one spot in the 25-lap feature, Chris posted a sixth-place finish.
On Friday, Chris locked his spot into the final preliminary feature with a third-place finish in his heat but was slammed into by another competitor that resulted in an early exit on lap 20.
Locked into the third-starting position for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale via his preliminary results the previous nights, Ferguson was involved in a four-car pileup on lap 40 that brought a disappointing end to his weekend.
