World 100 at Eldora Speedway Recap

102 late models signed in at Eldora Speedway for the 53rd running of the World 100. One hundred and two! The BAR31 Team had their work cut out for them; but it’s Eldora. You expect only the best of the best.

Thursday night, Kye drew pill #94, and that would set him up to be in Group B. His qualifying effort buried him deep into the field, qualifying 39th out of 51 cars in the group. He started 10th in Heat 7 and passed 4 cars on the first lap. Lack of passing throughout the field had him taking the checkers in 6th place, one spot out of transferring into the Group B Feature. The 31AUS started on the pole of the LCS. Tanner English took the lead coming out of turn 4 on lap 1. Garret Smith and Kye put on a show, trading slide jobs until a caution came out on the white flag lap. The green-white-checkered flag laps saw Kye fade back to fifth, and his night come to an end.

Friday night, Kye drew pill #15, which put him out early in qualifying. He ended up qualifying 24th out of 51, a bit better than the previous night. Things didn’t go well in the heat race, and he dropped 3 positions to finish 9th. The BAR31 Team would again head to the LCS. Only the top two would transfer to the feature race, and the team finished in 7th, again disappointed to miss the feature race.

Saturday evenings events were set up by points earned on Thursday and Friday. Kye would start 11th in Heat 4, with only the top 3 transferring into the World 100. Kye would finish 9th, good enough to get into the LCS. Starting deep in a field of 24 cars where only 4 would transfer, the 31AUS finished in 16th position. Disappointed, the team would become spectators for the rest of the evening.

The team has gone back to Greencastle and will catch back up with the MARS Series this coming weekend at Brownstown Bullring and Fairbury. As always, we want to thank our partners, BAR31, Rocket Chassis, Durham Racing Engines, AccuForce Dyno’s and Testers, My Race Pass, Sunoco Race Fuels, and Thomas Garage Door Sales. Also, special thanks to Zach Yost Racing Photography.
