Shirley sixth in Prairie Dirt Classic with World of Outlaws
Kicking off a busy last week of July, Brian Shirley and his Bob Cullen Racing team trekked to Off-Road Speedway (Norfolk, Ne.) on Monday afternoon for the first night of the XR Super Series Elkhorn 100.
With Friday's field split into two 25-lap features, Shirley recorded an eighth-place finish in his preliminary feature.
For Tuesday's $100,000-to-win finale, Shirley raced his way into the main event with a third-place run in his B-Main. Moving forward in the 100-lap showdown, Shirley gained six positions on his way to a Top-10 outing in ninth.
Turning his attention to the 33rd-annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Brian Shirley was one of 63 Late Models signed in with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series on Friday afternoon.
Following a strong lap in his stacked qualifying group, Brian earned a starting spot on the front-row of his $5,000-to-win preliminary feature. In the 25-lap shootout, Shirley battled for the runner-up position with Tanner English and eventually finished second to race-winner Chris Madden.
Wrapping up the big money week on Saturday, Shirley automatically locked into the 100-lap main event and drew the fifth-position in the redraw. With a whopping $50,000 payday on the line, Brian battled inside the Top-10 but was unable to make a charge for the leaders and landed in sixth-place when the checkered flag flew.
