Sixth-place run with Southern Nationals at Tri-County Racetrack
On Tuesday afternoon, Payton Freeman followed the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series to a close-to-home track in Toccoa Raceway (Toccoa, Ga.) for round five of the tour.
Locking in the Top-5 in qualifying, Freeman nabbed the final A-Main transfer spot which placed him on the fifth-row for the 40-lap main event. For the $7,553-to-win feature, Payton was running inside the Top-10 when a flat tire derailed his run. He was scored 20th in the final rundown.
With the field elevated to 28 cars at Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) on Thursday, Payton was once again the final transferee in qualifying which earned him the 10th-place starting position. With another $7,553-to-win event on tap, Freeman gained four positions to secure a sixth-place finish.
