Troutman fifth with MARS Championship Series at I-55
Taking part in a pair of MARS Championship Series events in the Land of Lincoln, Drake Troutman traveled to Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Ill.) on Friday for the Wild Man Kelly Classic.
After setting a new track record in time trials with a blistering 11.796-second lap, Troutman outran Jason Feger in his heat to pick up the win. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Drake was an early retiree on lap 25 while running seventh.
For the $5,000-to-win Tribute to Ed Dixon on Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Drake followed up a heat race victory with a fifth-place showing in the feature. He trailed Gordy Gundaker, Ryan Unzicker, Jason Feger, and Billy Moyer to the checkers.
