Clanton sits on front-row of Silver Dollar Nationals at Huset's Speedway
Kicking off the 13th annual Silver Dollar Nationals presented by MyRacePass weekend at it's new location, Shane Clanton rolled into Huset’s Speedway (Brandon, S.D.) and entered his Skyline Motorsports No. 25 machine into Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series action.
Following the ninth-fastest lap in qualifying, Clanton lost a few positions in his heat race and was unable to grab an A-Main transfer spot in his consolation race.
With Mother Nature pushing Friday's heat race to Saturday afternoon, Clanton hoped for better luck in the heat races that would set Saturday's lineup. In the first round, Clanton went on a eighth-to-third charge through the field in his heat. Lining up on the pole for the second round, Shane led flag-to-flag in his second heat race.
With passing points setting the grid for the $53,000-to-win Silver Dollar Nationals finale later Saturday night, Shane earned the outside pole for Saturday's main event.
For the 80-lap finale on Saturday evening, Clanton ran inside the Top-5 till about half-way where he started to fade. Clanton would land a 12th-place finish in the Silver Dollar Nationals.
Turning his attention to another big money event, Shane Clanton traveled to Off Road Speedway (Norfolk, Neb.) on Monday afternoon for the XR Super Series Elkhorn 100.
With Friday's field split into two 25-lap features, Clanton recorded a fifth-place outing in the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature.
Being the final A-Main transfer car from Friday's prelim features, Clanton would start the 100-lap main event from the fifth-row. With a whopping $100,000 payday on the line, Shane was an early retiree on lap 61. He was scored 21st.
