Koehler Motorsports continues Southern Nationals trek; Owens sixth in Rebel Yell
Kicking off the second week of Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals action on Thursday after a Tuesday evening rainout, Jimmy Owens and Jordan Koehler invaded Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) for the Roscoe Smith Classic.
Among a stout 47-car field, neither Owens or Koehler were able to lock into the 44-lap feature through qualifying. Jimmy was victorious in his B-Main while Jordan took a provisional to start the A-Main. In the $7,544-to-win main event, Owens overcame a late flat tire to finish in 10th while Jordan recorded a 22nd-place finish.
Hoping for better luck at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) on Friday, both drivers qualified before a heavy thunderstorm rolled into the area. Officials were forced to postpone the event to August 18th.
Heading back into Georgia at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Ga.) on Saturday, both Owens and Koehler made the A-Main starting field for the 23rd-annual Rebel Yell. With $10,053 on the line, Jordan finished 17th while Jimmy went on a 13th-to-sixth charge in the 53-lap feature to finish just outside the Top-5.
Sunday's Southern Nationals event at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) was postponed due to heavy rain showers.
Jimmy is currently leading the series points standings.
Jordan currently sits sixth in series points.
