Carson Ferguson

Runner-up outing in Roscoe Smith Memorial at Senoia Raceway

Continuing his championship quest on Thursday, Carson Ferguson and the No. 93 Paylor Motorsports team invaded Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) for the Roscoe Smith Classic with the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals.

With a strong 47-car field on site, Ferguson locked himself into the 44-lap feature after laying down the fastest lap in his qualifying group. Sitting on the pole for the $7,544-to-win feature, Carson trailed Ashton Winger at the drop of the green flag and challenged the race-long leader multiple times but came up just short in the Roscoe Smith Memorial. He followed Winger to the line while Michael Page, Austin Horton, and Pearson Lee Williams rounded out the Top-5.

Traveling to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) on Friday afternoon, Ferguson earned quick-time honors before a heavy thunderstorm rolled into the area. Officials were forced to postpone the event to August 18th.

Heading back into Georgia on Saturday, Carson rolled into Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Ga.) for the fourth round of the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals. In qualifying, Carson smacked the wall which forced him to a B-Main. Transferring to the A-Main through his consolation race, Ferguson battled through the field and recorded an 11th-place finish.

Sunday's Southern Nationals event at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) was postponed due to heavy rain showers.

Carson is currently second in series points.
