Kye Blight and the Bar31 Team Wrap Up the Summer Nationals
Kye Blight put a wrap on the 2023 edition of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals last week with events in Michigan and Ohio.
Kye opened festivities on Thursday at Butler (Mich.) Speedway by setting fast time in qualifying with a new track record before winning his heat race to lock into the second-starting spot for the $5,000-to-win finale. He went on to register a sixth-place finish at the checkered flag.
After seeing Friday's event at Hartford (Mich.) Speedway washed away, action resumed at Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, Ohio) on Saturday with 49 entries in the pits. Blight enjoyed another strong outing. After qualifying third fastest in his group he won his heat race to lock into the sixth-starting spot for the feature. For the second-straight night he raced to a sixth-place finish.
The team brought the 2023 DIRTcar Summer Nationals to a close at Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio) on Sunday night. A stout field of 39 Super Late Models took to the 3/8-mile oval, and Blight earned the 19th-starting spot for the main event with a fourth-place finish in his B-Main.
Rocketing through the field in the 40-lap finale, Blight cross the finish line fifth behind Kyle Moore, Ashton Winger, Rod Conley, and Bob Gardner.
Kye finished fourth in the week #5 DIRTcar Summer Nationals points as well as fourth in the overall final standings.
